Background:

Riku was born to the Seelie court, though the instant he was born, he was rejected. To his mother, he was the proof of her affair with the Unseelie man, to his father, he was the bastard child. To make matters worse, his mother left the moment she was able, leaving him in the care of his nurse, who thankfully wasn’t as critical of his birth as the rest of them.

He grew up in the Seelie court, constantly aware of just how much he stuck out around the blonds, the redheads, and brunets. It wasn't that he was ugly; no, on the contrary, many of the Seelie court wished for his two-toned eyes, an odd mix of blue around the pupil and green outside that. It was his hair that set him apart, though. Silver hair belonged to the other court and constantly he was reminded of his heritage, and of his shameful mother every time he looked in the mirror.

To make up for his blood, he tried everything to make his father proud. From taking up the sword, to learning what little magic he could- anything to make his father actually pay attention to him, other than the thinly veiled insults he’d since gotten used to.

There was one bright point in his life; his friends. Those from the Seelie court who didn’t mind his parentage. Roxas in particular was always kind to him, and there was always the possibility and rumors of them being together, up until the day that Riku was framed for something he didn’t do. All the rules and fairness the Seelie prided themselves on was ignored; they had a way to rid themselves of the blemish of the Halfling and so they’d take it. Riku was put in a prison, a dungeon in the lowest part of the Seelie castle, left to waste away there until one day, a key was placed in his food, and he was let out.

He's still not sure why he was put there, but someone had pointed out a few people whom it might be; he's made an effort to try and work it out.
